Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

Indomath: Indonesia Mathematics Education, published by Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Indonesian Mathematics Educators Society (IMES), an international journal, provides a forum for publishing the original research articles, review articles from contributors, and the novel technology news related to mathematics education that published two times a year: February and August. Scientific articles dealing with design research, development research, etc. are particularly welcome. The journal encompasses research articles, original research reports, reviews, short communications and scientific commentaries in mathematics education.

All papers submitted to the journal should be written in good English. Authors for whom English is not their native language are encouraged to have their papers checked before submission for grammar and clarity. The work should not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The official language of the manuscript to be published in Indomath: Indonesia Mathematics Education is English.

 

AUTHOR'S RESPONSIBILITY

Before submission, the author should consider that the manuscript is in the following condition:

  1. The manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not considered for publication elsewhere. The author(s) should submit the cover letter simultaneously with the manuscript to declare the originality.
  2. The author has to make sure that the manuscript has been prepared using the Indomath: Indonesia Mathematics Education template, following the author guidelines and not a single author
  3. The single author's paper is just for the invited author or the author with an excellent reputation for research or mathematics education.
  4. As an author or co-author, you share responsibility and accountability for the content of your article. Please avoid being a gift (guest) authorship where someone is added to the list of authors who have not been involved in writing the paper or ghost authorship where someone has been involved in writing the paper but is not included in the list of authors.
  5. The manuscript should also have been carefully proofread (the proofreading certificate may be required based on the language editor's evaluation).
  6. Any manuscript that does not meet the author guidelines, focus, and scope; is written in a different format; or has poor soundness in English will be immediately rejected. 

 

MANUSCRIPT TEMPLATE

The manuscript should be prepared according to the following author guidelines in the MS Word article template (download the MS Word article template here).

 

REVIEW OF MANUSCRIPT

At least two peer reviewers independently review every submitted paper. The decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based on their reports/recommendations. If two or more reviewers consider a manuscript unsuitable for publication in this journal, a statement explaining the basis for the decision will be sent to the authors within three months of the submission date.


REVISION OF MANUSCRIPT

Manuscripts sent back to the authors for revision should be returned to the editor without delay. Revised manuscripts can be sent to editorial office through the Online Submission Interface (https://indomath.org/index.php/indomath). The revised manuscripts returned later than three months will be considered as new submissions.

 

GUIDELINE FOR ONLINE SUBMISSION

The author should first register as Author and/or is offered as Reviewer through the following address: https://indomath.org/index.php/indomath/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions 

The author should fill out the form as detailed as possible where the star-marked form must be entered. After all form text boxes are filled, the author clicks on the “Register” button to proceed with the registration. The author is then taken to the online author submission interface, where the author should click “New Submission”. In the Start a New Submission section, click on “’Click Here: to go to step one of the five-step submission process. The following are the five steps in the online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of the journal, i.e., Original Research Articles, Review Article, or Short Communication. Thus, the author must check the submission checklist.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file to be submitted, then click the Upload button.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detail authors metadata should be entered, including the marked corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords.
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary files should be uploaded, including the Covering/Submission Letter and Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement Form. Therefore, click on the Browse button, choose the files, and then click on the Upload button.
  5. Step 5 – Confirming the Submission: The author should finally check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to Indomath, click the Finish Submission button after the documents are correct. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email and will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal website.

After this submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors can track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of the manuscript review and editorial process.

 

STRUCTURE OF THE MANUSCRIPT

Starting from 2026, we will implement a new writing structure to satisfy the rigorous standards of international scientific article writing.

  1. Title page: The title should describe the contents of the manuscript, with a maximum of 20 words.
  2. Author's identity: The author's name should be accompanied by the author's institutions without the academic title. For a joint paper, one of the authors should be identified as the corresponding author.
  3. Abstract: Abstracts must be written in both English and Indonesian. Each abstract must not exceed 150 words. The abstract must present clear and accurate information, covering the background or gap analysis, objectives, methods, results or findings, and research conclusions. Keywords consisting of 3–5 terms must be included with the abstract.
  4. Introduction: The introduction should provide clear and concise information about the background or motivation to research, the importance of the topics and the current problem (gap analysis). All statements must be supported by the latest reference from journal articles. This section should also provide the relevant research problems and objectives, relevant research hypothesis (if any), and the importance or contribution of the research to the field. This section should also describe the critically analysed literature review from relevant references. Then, the summary of the literature review and its implications for the problem investigated (novelty). The conceptual framework is also suggested to be described in this section. A conceptual framework represents the relationship expected between variables in the study. It is highly recommended to describe the literature review and the conceptual framework in a separate subsection.
  5. Methods: The research methods must provide information about how to solve the research problems. Generally consists of the type and design of the study, the research setting, research subjects (population, sample and sampling), data collection techniques, the validity of the data (if any), and data analysis techniques. 
  6. Result: The findings present the results of the research in the form of tables, charts, diagrams, or narratives were then given meaning or description of any research results are presented.
  7. Discussion: The discussion contains a description of the researchers on the study results, either as expected or not. Then compare the findings by previous studies that mainly had been published in reputable scientific journals or use the literature. 
  8. Conclusion: The conclusion provides concise information about what was gained from the research that has been done. Then give the implications and a clue to undertake further studies related to the results of the study.
  9. Declaration of the use of AI: This section is a statement by the author regarding the use of AI and responsibility for its use.
  10. Acknowledgement: Include an acknowledgement if parties have made a significant contribution in funding and/or provided support to the research.
  11. Bibliography: The bibliography contains at least 40 references, with most of them (80%) from reputable international journals (Scopus/WoS database). It is highly recommended to use the latest publication. In addition, references from textbooks should be minimised. The bibliography is written in APA style, 7th edition. The authors should also utilise reference management software, such as Mendeley, to organise the bibliography. The DOI of all references (if any) must be included.

Tables

Tables should be typewritten separately from the main text and preferably in an appropriate font size to fit each table on a separate page. Each table must be numbered with Arabic numerals (e.g., Table 1, Table 2) and include a title. Place footnotes to tables below the table body and indicate them with superscript lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.), not symbols. Do not use vertical rulings in the tables. Each column in a table must have a heading, and abbreviations, when necessary, should be defined in the footnotes. 

Figures

Figures should be provided separately from the main text. Use Arabic numerals to number all figures (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2) according to their sequence in the text. The figure number must appear well outside the boundaries of the image itself. Multipart figures should be indicated with uppercase and bold font letters (A, B, C, etc.) without parenthesis, both on the figure itself and in the figure legends.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

1. License

The non-commercial use of the article will be governed by the Creative Commons Attribution license as currently displayed on Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). 

2. Author’s Warranties

The author warrants that the article is original, written by stated author(s), has not been published before, contains no unlawful statements, does not infringe the rights of others, is subject to copyright that is vested exclusively in the author and free of any third party rights, and that any necessary written permissions to quote from other sources have been obtained by the author(s).

3. User Rights

IndoMath spirit is to disseminate articles published are as free as possible. Under the Creative Commons license, IndoMath permits users to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work for non-commercial purposes only. Users will also need to attribute authors and IndoMath on distributing works in the journal.

4. Rights of Authors

Authors retain all their rights to the published works, such as (but not limited to) the following rights;

  • Copyright and other proprietary rights relating to the article, such as patent rights,
  • The right to use the substance of the article in own future works, including lectures and books,
  • The right to reproduce the article for own purposes,
  • The right to self-archive the article,
  • The right to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the article's published version (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal (IndoMath: Indonesia Mathematics Education).

5. Co-Authorship

If the article was jointly prepared by other authors, any authors submitting the manuscript warrants that he/she has been authorized by all co-authors to be agreed on this copyright and license notice (agreement) on their behalf, and agrees to inform his/her co-authors of the terms of this policy. IndoMath will not be held liable for anything that may arise due to the author(s) internal dispute. IndoMath will only communicate with the corresponding author.

6. Royalties

This agreement entitles the author to no royalties or other fees. To such extent as legally permissible, the author waives his or her right to collect royalties relative to the article in respect of any use of the article by IndoMath.

7. Miscellaneous

IndoMath will publish the article (or have it published) in the journal if the article’s editorial process is successfully completed. IndoMath editors may modify the article to a style of punctuation, spelling, capitalization, referencing and usage that deems appropriate. The author acknowledges that the article may be published so that it will be publicly accessible and such access will be free of charge for the readers as mentioned in point 3.

 

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
